The “X-Plan” was thought up by Bert Fulks. Fulks, a minister and father of three, works with teenagers who are getting treatment for addiction. Fulks learned from the kids in his support group that they often would be in potentially dangerous situations and couldn’t find a way out. The X-plan is an escape. Fulks and his kids now have a secret text message that can be sent.
When this secret text is sent, no questions will be asked – but it means that they need help. The Fulks children can now safely go to a party or a dance knowing that if they get uncomfortable and need to leave, they have a way out.
All the Fulks children have to do is send a text with just the letter X. That is all. As soon as Fulks gets that text, he knows his kids needs help in some way. The rest of the plan is all scripted. Once the X is seen, Fulks will call that teenagers phone and ask if they need him to come get them.
