An animal that is about to give birth will try to find a safe, warm place to have her babies. Calida, a calico cat, found an outdoor laundry room, but it wasn’t all that warm. Four of Calida’s kittens died soon after being born because the floor was freezing cold.
Calida and her surviving kitten were found and rescued by VOKRA (Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association.
Tasha Bukovnik, the vice president of VOKRA, said that is Calida’s kittens had been born in a warmer place, they would have all survived.
Calida did save one tiny kitten by using her body to keep her little one alive. When the homeowner found the mother and baby, they two were taken to safety.
Calida was very grateful to finally have something to eat and a warm place to rest with her baby. The kitten was named Sentrie.
