The humble bottle of vinegar (usually white vinegar, if we want to get specific) sitting on the kitchen countertop in every home is well-renowned for having dozens of household uses.
In a way, it can be considered the holy grail of homemade household cleaning supplies.
What you may not have realised is that it has a similarly effective counterpart in healthcare and skincare – apple cider vinegar.
Aside from its use throughout history as a disinfectant and a cleaner – thanks to its ability to inhibit bacterial and fungal growth – it can also help lower blood sugar levels and fight off type 2 diabetes.
Most importantly, it does miracles for any skin conditions you may have, thanks to the high levels of antioxidants and acetic acid found in the vinegar.
Here are some of the things you can do with it.
1. Eliminate Foot Odor
Thanks to its ability to naturalize your skin’s pH levels and its bacteria-fighting properties, apple cider vinegar can help kill odor-causing bacteria.
Simply soak some baby wipes in a cup of the vinegar overnight, then rub it into the soles of your feet as often as needed.
You can also use apple cider vinegar directly as a foot soak to combat foot odor!
For every cup of the vinegar used, dilute it with four cups of water.
Put both feet into the soak tub, and sit for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Then, dry your feet thoroughly.
2. Soothe Itches
Thanks to its antifungal properties and the fact it is an incredibly efficient antiseptic, you can use apple cider vinegar to treat itchy or dry skin.
You can even apply it to sunburns, bug bites, and skin affected by poison ivy!
Simply put a few drops of undiluted apple cider vinegar onto a cotton ball, then dab it onto any problematic areas.
3. Get Rid Of Dandruff
Try utilising apple cider vinegar’s high acidity to balance the pH levels of your scalp, thereby curbing the growth of dandruff-causing bacteria and yeast there.
To do so, dilute ¼ cup of the vinegar with the same amount of water, then put the mixture into a spray bottle.
Spray your scalp, then wrap your head with a towel.
Allow the mixture to sit there for about 15 minutes, then rinse it off.
4. Remove Moles Or Warts
Warts are often usually caused by an HPV infection getting into tiny cuts on the skin.
To get rid of moles or warts, dilute a cup of apple cider vinegar with some water. Soak a cotton ball with this mixture, then apply it to the affected skin.
If you are interested in stronger effects, you can opt to use the vinegar undiluted.
Repeat this process every night for 20 minutes until the warts are gone.
With so many harsh chemicals out there lurking in skincare products these days, it is best to stick to ingredients that we know are safe to use and have been proven by a long history of its successful use.
After all, our skin and health are very important to us!
