The group was headed to a state semi-final game.
Martin Schele, a point guard for the team, recalls that the accident happened about 45 minutes after the trip started.
He said that people were ricocheting off the bus as the bus turned over and over.
As soon as the bus stopped flipping, students and adults started to scramble towards the emergency exit.
The team’s coach was airlifted to a University of Chicago hospital.
Several other people on the bus were hospitalized as well.
Was this accident caused by distracted driving? I think so when you get behind the wheel the only thing you should be doing is driving.
This incident could have been a lot worse – and for what? A spilled drink?
