You teach your children to be kind. You tell them that fighting is wrong, but you hope they are capable of defending themselves if they are attacked.
You don’t want them to hurt anyone, but to stop the attack.
When a boy kept pinching a girl’s bra at school, the teacher told her just to ignore it. The girl told the boy to stop, but he didn’t.
Eventually, the boy managed to undo her bra, so the girl turned and hit him.
You would think that the girl was completely justified in standing up for herself.
It was completely inappropriate for the boy to mess with her bra and then unhook it.
Do you know how the school reacted? The school decided that the girl deserved to be punished.
She hit another student after all! Sounds fair – right?!
Well, the girl’s mother didn’t think so. The mother told the principal that her daughter had simply protected herself from a sexual attack.
If the adult in the room wasn’t willing to help her daughter, what was she supposed to do?
To make her point, the mother asked the teacher to come over so she could touch the front of his trousers.
The teacher (obviously) said no.
The mother then told him to go over and tug on the school counselor’s bra, because that is what he had allowed the student to do to her daughter! Well played, mom.
The school did move the boy into a different class after the incident. The mother plans to press charges.
