We all know that most dogs make fantastic security systems. The sound of a barking dog (or two) is usually enough to scare off the bravest of criminals. Cats don’t make good security systems – when faced with danger, most cats run away! Adam Pearl Sr. rescued an orphaned baby squirrel about six months ago. He named the squirrel Joey.
Wait until you find out what Joey did to say thank you! Joey was found alone in a flower bed by some friends of Adam’s. Since they didn’t know how to care for the tiny squirrel, they gave him to Adam.
Now, Joey is large and in charge! Recently, Adam came home and found evidence that someone had taken some things from his house. There were tracks in the snow leading to the house and pry marks on his safe.
Joey had not been harmed. But Joey had witnessed the intrusion. Adam reported the break in. The police came and made their report. The officer saw Joey and asked if he bit people. Adam said no, he didn’t usually.
Hours later, Adam got a phone call saying that the burglar had been found! The man had cuts and scrapes all over his hands. The officer asked the man if he had been attacked by a squirrel and the man replied that he had – and the attack had been relentless!
Joey did it! He stopped the burglar from stealing! Adam was able to recover all of the items that were taken! Lesson of the day – don’t mess with squirrels!
Share away, people!
