Spring is a time of renewal. All the leaves grow back, flowers bloom, and many species of animals have their young. Spring is also the time we have to haul out all our yard tools to make our yards more presentable. Did you know that you can do more harm than good if you start to straighten up your yard too soon?
It has to do with baby animals that live in and around your yard. A few of the species that you may injure are chipmunks, gophers, and skunks. What happens is the habitats are disturbed before the babies are ready to leave.
The little ones are forced out of their nest or den and are likely to be hurt when they venture out. They can become prey or die from exposure – even worse would be if you accidentally kill one with a yard tool.
