Animals have a special sense, and they can tell when you (or another animal) isn’t feeling well. When my brothers and I were growing up, we had a Shetland sheepdog that would follow us around the house and sleep next to our beds when we were sick – somehow, she just knew. When we felt better, the dog would go back to following around our mom.

It was rather nice to have her by my side when I didn’t feel good. In her own way, she was showing support and care by being so close.
