A dog, a beloved family dog, named Duke, approached some police officers in Ocoee and was shot… yes, the 11-year old hound dog was shot in the head. Why? Because the police had guns and they used them. The officers went to the Brooks’ home to ask about a boat that was floating in the property across the street; the boat did belong to the Brooks family.
So, the officers came to the door and the dogs came out, then the officers reportedly fired. Charlie Brooks saw the whole thing happen – Duke had merely come running out of his doggy door to see who was there and the cops overreacted.
It is important that our police officers be armed so they can protect themselves, but it is also important that they not fire their weapons without just cause. I don’t think an unaggressive dog deserves to be shot in the head when he approaches the police. Share away, people.
