A mother from Oklahoma has been served a two-year prison sentence for marrying her own daughter – and as it turns out, this isn’t her first incestuous act.
Patricia Ann Spann, 46, married her biological daughter Misty Velvet Dawn Spann, 27, back in the March of 2016. Spann, who lost custody of Misty when she was still a baby, faces a two-year jail sentence followed by 8 years probation as part of a plea deal, while also paying nearly $3000 in fines and fees. Upon her release, she will be required to register as a sex offender.
The marriage between Spann and Misty was annulled last October due to the fact that Spann used fraudulent methods to convince Misty to enter a marriage with her. Previously, Spann had gotten away with this incestuous marriage because she was not legally listed as Misty’s mother on her birth certificate, and she had consulted multiple attorneys who assured Spann that the marriage was not lawfully wrong. The two met for the first time in 2014 since being estranged and reportedly hit it off well and entered a relationship.
But this is not Spann’s first marriage of this kind. Along with Misty, Spann had also lost custody to two more sons, one whom she coerced to marry her in 2008. Jody Jr., the son in question, was 18 at the time and had allegedly threatened to kill him if he did not agree to marry her. Spann had reportedly done this to prevent Jody from being drafted into the military. The marriage was annulled by a judge in 2010.
Cody Spann, who is Spann’s other son, called his biological mother a sick, twisted predator in an interview. Meanwhile, Misty was previously meant to have served a sentence for the incestuous marriage, but due to legal issues, will be entering a new plea deal later this week. She is demanding that her mother pays for her legal fees.
