In a classic case of neighborly deeds gone wrong, a pretty parakeet named Oscar has been riling his neighbor, George.
Oscar is an Indian Ringneck parakeet and lives with other birds and the rest of his family in New Zealand.
George is the cat that lives next door but has run of the outside space.
This includes getting up close to those neighboring birds by means of a window.
Not that George means anything by peeking into windows.
He’s got his feline instincts, and his neighbors have…Oscar.
Oscar’s owner managed to capture the interplay of bird training and feline annoyance on video and shared to her Facebook page.
Waking up the next day to emails and shares, Oscar’s owners realized they had just pulled off the social media coup d’etat: a viral video gone global!
So what started it, anyway?
In the video, Oscar is busy playing one of his favorite games and he thinks George is in on it.
The two of them have met with a safely closed window dividing them.
Oscar says in his squeaky voice “Peek-a-boo!” and ducks down out of George’s sight.
He then pops back up and does it again. And again. And again.
Meanwhile, George the cat watches Oscar through the glass.
George is not amused.
George has probably thought of his own game of “hide-the-bird” that he’d like to try.
Oscar thinks they’re having fun together.
After all, Peek-a-boo is fun with his family. So it must be fun for George.
As you can see in the video below, neighborly relations have, for some unknown reason, broken down.
Check out the video and remember to have your sound turned on because Oscar’s cute cheery voice is half the fun!
