Buttons is fed hay and even goes to visit the chimpanzee sanctuary nearby on occasion.
J.B. Mulcahy is co-director of the chimpanzee sanctuary, and he said that Buttons like just to sit and watch the chimps.
A local, Chane Roghair, said that Buttons is sort of the mascot of the area. Roghair said that there are other groups of elk that wander through the area but Buttons has never tried to join them.
Why should she? She has a new family and a lot of good friends.
