Meet a very special rodent, named the Jerboa – who are residents of the warm deserts areas, specifically prominent in North Africa and certain parts of South East Asia. At first glance, it resembles a normal mouse, but its jumping abilities would greatly surprise you, due to its extremely powerful but tiny legs!
The Jerboa is characterized as a part of the Dipondinae, which are a group of rodents who are able to jump. Due to their shy nature, Jerboas don’t warm up to humans easily – they hide from you. Also, they’re incredibly fast for little critters – and can run at a speed of 16 miles per hour! These rodents are nocturnal, and their diet involves eating various species of insects and plants. They love seeds, too!
