The pony wasn’t the only neglected horse on the property. Rescuers from Animaux en Péril were alerted by the authorities.
The horse and pony were found standing in manure that was about 2 feet high!
I can’t even imagine that! Both animals were given a body index of one (one out of five). Which means they were at death’s door. They Shetland pony weighed only 154 pounds – he should have been more like 450! The horse and pony, now named Everest and Poly were cleaned up and given treatment.
Poly may never walk normally because there was permanent joint damage done to his legs from the neglect.
