Borneo is the third largest island in the world and is located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. According to lonely planet, Borneo has rainforests that are filled unique and beautiful forms of life – both plant and animal!
The cat you see in the picture below was captured on film outside of his native range – it is a bay cat.
The bay cat has been listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature as “endangered.”
In Borneo, there are fewer than 2,500 of these big cats left. Habitat loss is expected to keep reducing their numbers.
Most bay cats have chestnut colored fur with some white streaks on the underside of their tail. The one capture in the photo definitely a dark chestnut color.
