A man heard a thumping sound coming out of a dumpster, so he looked inside.
There was a large cardboard box with duct tape all around it – the thumping noise was coming from inside the box.
The man opened the box and found a dog inside – the image below is graphic and disturbing.
The puppy was only about 5 months old, and she had blood smeared all over her body – but she was wagging her tail.
She also had a bad case of mange.
The dog, later named Sally weighed about 35 pounds, and rescuers believe the blood came from her paws.
She had been desperately trying to get out of her prison.
Patti Dawson, the executive director and vice president of Dallas DogRRR says that Sally had probably been in the box for a few hours before she was found.
The temperatures were in the 90s the day she was found, Sally wouldn’t have been able to survive in that box for long.
The man who found her took her home and did his best for her.
Sally started to run a fever, and the man had to reach out for help.
He called a Dallas city shelter, and they picked Sally up.
Despite all that she had been through and being abandoned to die in a box, Sally is happy and very sweet!
Sally was treated at a local vet and placed into foster care.
Dawson is perplexed as to why someone would mistreat such a loving and gentle dog.
