Lawson’s previous owner was mortified after seeing what the procedure had done – she didn’t know what the process involved.
Debudding (disbud, or dehorning) a goat is an unnecessary and very painful process. There are blood vessels in the horns, and without them, the goat will have a hard time regulating their body temperature in the summer and winter.
Others would argue that removing the horns keeps other animals in the herd safe and prevents the goats from getting caught in fences. Leanne started to dress Lawson up in warm, fluffy hats to help him be more stylish and comfortable!
In a few months, the hair on his head will grow over and cover the spots where his horns used to be. Until then, Leanne has plenty of cute outfits to dress him up in!
