This story is disturbing and sad. A Carson City mother actually lied about her son’s illness and death.
In June, Victoria Morrison started a GoFundMe page for her ten-year-old son, who she claimed was very sick.
According to the page, the boy had type 3 von Willebrand disease and leukemia.
Morrison wrote a plea for any help that people could give, she said she was a single mom with three other kids and wanted to make sure her son got to do things he had on his bucket list.
As you may imagine, the donations came in.
The young boy was given a Charity Helicopter Ride, and his illness was the highlight of a ‘Shop with a Hero’ event in Carson City.
The boy’s teacher even donated $200 worth of gift cards.
In all, Morrison received about $2,000 of free money – and all because she was able to lie well.
On April 8, Morrison claimed on a Facebook page, that her son had died and had been cremated.
They even held a memorial service for the boy.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office then got a tip saying that the boy was very much alive – and according to police, he was also healthy.
After arresting Morrison, the police learned that the boy had been diagnosed with a disease – but it was treatable.
Morrison is being held on $20,000 bail and faces charges of filing false statements and obtaining money under false pretenses.
All of her children are in the custody of child protective services.
Share away, people.
