Domesticated dogs all came from wolves at some point in their past.
Today, people have what are called wolfdogs – part wolf and part dog.
They are a challenging breed to have in the household with their wolf genes.
Read on to find out what living with a wolfdog is really like.
Ben Hull wanted a wolfdog and found an ad in a paper.
When he went to the breeder’s home, one happy little pup ran right into his arms.
It seemed like fate.
Ben named his new puppy Shade, and the two headed home that day.
Things really went downhill after that.
Shade needed a lot of attention and had severe behavioral problems.
When Shade was a puppy, it wasn’t too bad if he jumped up on someone.
Shade grew, and so did his aggression.
The family had two older dogs that had started to become afraid of Shade.
Ben knew that his home was not the best place for Shade to live.
Ben found Wolf Connection, a sanctuary for wolfdogs.
He took Shade there and surrendered him.
The sad part of the story is that Ben learned that Shade had been inbred – which affected his temperament.
Doing some research, they found out that Shade’s mother was also his grandmother.
Shade was introduced to a female wolf at the sanctuary, and she taught him how to be a wolf.
The Wolf Connection warns people about adopting wolfdogs.
They are not easy to control.
With the proper care, they can be loving pets.
Share away, people.
