Many factors go into consideration when you are purchasing a house.
You might be looking for a certain amount of bedrooms, or maybe your main concern is the ranking of the local school districts.
You will also want to find a home that is located in the safest neighborhood possible, especially if you have young children.
After the more important factors are narrowed down, you will then probably look at the more minor issues.
For example, does the house have a pool? Is there a shed to store your outdoor items in? What does the house actually look like from the outside?
Depending on the area, many neighborhoods have an HOA, or home owners association.
An HOA will make sure that all homeowners keep their houses maintained and they often even pay for extra features for residents, such as a pool or playground.
However, homeowners who want to do things their way should stay far away from an HOA.
For Texas resident Emilio Rodriguez, this was one of the main concerns he had when looking for a home.
After he purchased his house in Pflugerville, many residents became unhappy with the changes he made to it.
The house was a beige color on the outside when Rodriguez first bought it, just like all the other homes on the block.
It blended in nicely. Now, his home is a shade of pink that makes many neighbors think of Pepto-Bismol.
Rodriguez painted his home pink simply because it is his favorite color. That is why he avoided owning a home with an HOA to begin with.
He started by painting the back of the house pink but then worked his way around to include the roof and even the rain gutters.
The neighbors are upset over the pink house because an unusual color like this can bring down the property values of their own homes.
There is no HOA to back them up, so their only hope is to file a lawsuit against Rodriguez and hope that they win.
However, Rodriguez has stated that he isn’t done painting. Find out what other things he plans to paint pink in the video below:
