Seems like we are hearing more and more about guns being used to kill people in the media. In South Carolina, Brandon Meyers, 20, and fellow thief Bobby Cason, 17, were charged with attempted grand larceny and murder. Cason and Meyers were trying to steal a man’s car when the man came out brandishing a gun.
WCSC reported that the man fired two warning shots into the air to scare the thieves off. Instead, Cason and Meyers shot the man and fled. When the police arrived, they found the victim on the ground, he died from his wounds at the scene. Spencer Pryor from the North Charleston Police Department stated that the responding officers saw the suspect vehicle rolling backward into a yard before speeding away.
A call came in and alerted the police that the suspect vehicle was traveling on the wrong side of the road. The suspects’ car was spotted, and the police began a chase. The suspects then crashed into four parked cars in a nearby neighborhood and were subsequently captured by the authorities.
Brendan Everett lives in the neighborhood and told reporters that the area is usually very quiet – and the whole incident was frightening. So, now a man is dead, and two young men will be in prison for a very long time. What is the point? Why do people have to steal from other people? If you feel the need to take someone else’s property – at least have the decency not to kill them.
Share away, people.
