As soon as Ek picked up the pitiful creature, the owner emerged from the house.
Ek then noticed cages and cages of dogs in the man’s backyard. She knew that these dogs were being raised for their meat.
Ek tried to ask the man about some of the sicklier looking dogs, and the man immediately got defensive. He told her that she didn’t look like a dog buyer – and that he hated animal activists. Not wanting to tip her hand, Ek left taking the cat with her.
She named the cat, Nimo.
