At first, Barberi assumed the dead bird had been floating in the water for some time – but, he was wrong! The bird was still alive! He could see the bird’s beak moving up and down!

Barberi reached in and pulled the bird out of the water and placed in on his kayak.

The bird wasn’t quite sure about what was going on but did manage to stay on the front of the kayak until they got to shore. Once on shore, Barberi enlisted the help of some campers nearby.
