The shock that swept across the audience can be heard in the video.
Medics rushed the stage to assist and took her away on a stretcher.
At hospital doctors performed surgery to reset her fractured arm.
In addition to the two fractures, there are unconfirmed reports that Katchanke had a dislocated elbow.
The good news for Ketchanke is that she won the bronze medal in the event, having successfully lifted at 103kg.
This follows a silver medal received at the 2018 European Championships.
Katchanke acknowledged this accomplishment in an Instagram post where she also showed her appreciation for her fans, teammates, and the medical personnel who attended her after her injury.
“I’m coming out of these European Championships not in the best of ways, with a 107kg wrenching elbow injury after winning the bronze medal at 103kg.
I received a lot of support messages that made me feel good and we are waiting for my return to France to do further tests.
I want to thank the medical and technical staff of the Federation who responded very quickly and who are by my side. my coaches and my colleagues from the France team. I will come back to you for news.”
