Flash mobs are a lot of fun, and they’re a great way to bring light and cheer to a place or event. But did you know that they can serve more purposes than just entertainment? In fact, they can be educational, too! Don’t believe me? Let this crew of firefighters from Chattanooga convince you otherwise! This video shows a “flash mob” dance routine performed by these firefighters.
The scene opens with a woman calling for help due to a man experiencing cardiac arrest – these are just actors, of course! Some firefighters arrive on the scene to help, and a large number of them begin to dance to the great, funky tune of the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive”. It’s a bit on the nose for a life-saving mission, but it serves a purpose!

According to the firefighter who is trying to save the man, performing the chest compressions needed during CPR to the beat of this song can actually help you achieve the proper compression rate of 100 per minute. Amazing! Apparently, this is also possible with Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust”. Talk about irony!
