OUCH! Just one look at this dog, and you already know what happened! In Canada, Dennis Mazur and his three dogs Soljah, Nestah, and Mahalo found a porcupine. Being dogs, they went up the creature and tried to sniff. Unfortunately, the porcupine was not too happy about all the attention and Soljah, nine-years-old got a face full of quills.
In all, Nestah had over 1,000 quills in his neck, face, and spine! Mahalo got a few, and some pierced her lungs and heart. The two dogs were rushed to the vet. As you can imagine removing the quills would be expensive.
A friend of Mazur’s, Mike Gerrand, set up a GoFundMe account and was able to raise more than $10,000 for the dogs. Everyone is hopeful that Soljah and Mahalo will make a full recovery.
Feel better soon! Today’s lesson – don’t sniff porcupines! Share away, people!
