Luke Mullaney lives in Chicago with his girlfriend, Lauren Mayer, and their dog, Mya.
Mya is a German shepherd mix that was rescued – she is also an energetic and sweet two-and-a-half-year-old dog that is always ready for fun!
To help get all her energy out, most days, Mya is taken to the park where she can romp and run to her heart’s content.
Mya also spends some of her time at the Posh Pet Day Spa.
Mya’s previous owner had neglected her and Mya does have some anxiety issues – Mullaney knew this, and he told the staff at Posh Pet Day Spa.
Mullaney and Mayer figured having Mya interact with some other dogs may help ease some of that anxiety – in a safe, nurturing environment.
They were very, very wrong. At first, the visits to Posh Pet Day Spa were fine, Mya went two days a week for nearly a year!
Then one day, Mullaney went to pick up Mya and found a small black collar around her neck that he had never seen!
When he confronted the staff, the first thing out of the staff member’s mouth was “Uh-oh!”
They had been caught red handed!
The staff at Posh Pet Day Spa took it upon themselves to put a Pertainer Pet 853 shock collar on Mya!
The more she would bark, the more intense the shock she would get!
They did all this without Mullaney’s approval!
Mya was not the only dog wearing a shock collar either! Needless to say, Mya won’t be going back there!
