Laoma Yen lives and works in Luoyang, central China. He polishes and fixes the shoes of people who walk by. When Laoma was a child he was in a car accident. The injuries he suffered left him paralyzed from the waist down. So getting to work is not easy. But Laoma has a loving and dedicated dog who helps him get to work every day.

The dog is not a specially trained service dog. Laoma found the dog about two years ago living on the streets as a stray. Laoma took him in and both of their lives got better! The wheelchair Laoma uses is one he made himself, he cannot afford an electric one.
