Modern families are not always made of blood relatives. That is okay. A family is a place of love and security – not DNA. Take Cheesecake the capybara and her family for example. Six years ago, Cheesecake came to the Rocky Ridge Refuge in Arkansas. At first, Cheesecake was allowed to live indoors with Janice Wolf, the founder of Rocky Ridge.

Cheesecake played, ate with and slept with the dogs.

The dogs had no trouble at all accepting Cheesecake into their pack.

Soon, Cheesecake found herself taking care of the sanctuary’s orphaned puppies!

Wolf said that Cheesecake was the best foster mom – she took them all under her wing and would even discipline them if they got out of control! She also ate and slept with them.
