Alex Trebek, the host of the iconic game show Jeopardy, opened up about his intimate relationship with his wife.
In an interview with People Magazine in January, Trebek went into some personal details about the love of his life.
The Ontario-born star has been with his wife for almost 30 years.
Despite having been with his wife for three decades, there is one thing he would change about the time: the day the couple met.
In the interview, Trebek said that he was very satisfied with his life overall. However, the death of President Bush Senior made him consider his own marriage.
Bush and his wife had been married for 73 years when he passed away. Trebek wondered what it would be like to have known his wife for this long.
He made light of the thought after realizing that his wife wasn’t even born when he was in his 20’s.
Months after Trebek’s interview with the magazine, he and his wife are dealing with the challenging news of his cancer diagnosis.
This Wednesday, the couple announced the awful news. He has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that has reached stage four already.
In the video message, he revealed that 50,000 other people in the U.S. receive this same news every year.
Trebek vowed to keep fighting the disease and will continue to work on Jeopardy. He has hosted the show for the past 35 years.
Trebek’s wife and children join him in his battle against this terrible disease. His wife Jean also spoke with People Magazine earlier in the year.
She commented on her husband’s sense of humor and work ethic. Jean also mentioned that Trebek still acts and feels youthful.
The couple started out as good friends before moving onto more serious relations. Jean was always intrigued by Trebek.
She commented that there was a “deep sensitivity” underneath the “gruffy exterior”.
Despite have a 24 year age gap, the couple has been happily married for almost three decades.
Fans, friends and family are hoping and praying that Trebek beats his pancreatic cancer.
Although Trebek didn’t meet his wife earlier in this life, their love stands as a testament to the power of relationships.
