Critter Mama Rescue, Inc. located in Ruskin, Florida will take pets from people who can no longer care for them. They recently got a call from a man who was worried that his landlord would find out about his five dogs and he wanted to give them up before that happened. The group agreed to take the man’s five dogs.
The team was excited about the possibility of having five new adoptable dogs come into their possession. They didn’t get that, however. When the man pulled out the first dog, everyone was shocked at the dog’s condition.
The dog’s face was covered in dirty, matted fur, and it reeked of feces and urine. Robin Roberts, Critter Mama’s founder contacted Rick Chaboudy, the executive director of Suncoast Animal League (SAL) for help.
SAL is a larger organization and can handle situations like this a little better than Critter Mama.
Thankfully, Chaboudy agreed to help. Chaboudy stated that he has never seen such an extreme case of neglect. Clint Wilson, owner of Island Dog Outfitters, and professional groomer was called in to help clean the dogs up.
Look how clean he is!
A team of volunteers worked all night to clean up the filthy dogs. Chaboudy said all the dogs had about two inches of matted fur under their feet and that the dogs could barely walk. Next on the list was to get all the dogs examined by a veterinarian.
The dogs had eye and skin infections, parasites, and were malnourished. Finally, the dogs were in the right hands and getting the care they needed! Happily, the dogs all have new homes!
Share away, people.
